Happy Bachdag Tilburg, March 21
On Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday on March 21, we will celebrate the Happy Bach Day in Tilburg! This day the entire city will be dedicated to Bach, at more than 20 unexpected places and moments you can be surprised by Bach's music.
Haydn’s Last Words concerts
Fortepiano students of Keiko Shichijo and composition students of Anthony Fiumara join forces to perform Joseph Haydn’s Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze. They created a new version of Haydn's work, replacing parts of the original with newly composed music, to place his themes and music in a contemporary light.

Concert Series
Fontys AMPA will present a concert series in February led by french horn player and conductor Fréderick Franssen. A chamber orchestra, together with dance from our dance academy, will create a performance presented in a concert serie in Eindhoven, Tilburg and Roosendaal. We will take you through the highlights of dance music from the baroque era with a selection of Rameaus opera-ballet ‘Les Indes Galantes’ and one of Jean-Fery Rebels fine jewels ‘Les Caractères de la danse’. Furthermore the horn concerto by J.J. Quantz. Then we jump in time to ‘danse concertantes’ by Stravinsky en Wagners ‘Siegfried Idyll.

Percussion Festival
Are you considering becoming a professional percussionist or are you not sure yet? Are you doubting if your level is sufficient enough for these studies? Then this festival will be the perfect way to discover that!
This first edition of the AMPA PERCUSSION FESTIVAL gives young talented percussionists an opportunity to get to know our department. An intensive midweek filled with private- and ensemble classes, masterclassses, lectures and a concluding concert. The goal is to open our doors for you, meet our team of teachers and get a feel of our Music Conservatory in Tilburg, NL.
Join us from March 22nd until 25th and get overloaded with percussion classes in various music styles, chamber music, new friends and of course FUN!

Fresh from the Oven | 2nd Edition | September 2, 2022
After the successful first edition of Fresh from the Oven in September 2021, Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) and Master of Music decided to organize another alumni festival to highlight this year’s remarkable graduates and welcome our alumni, students, partners and teachers at the beginning of a new academic year/cultural season.
A Festival for new music ideas, new musicians and new connections!
AMPA/MoM aim at supporting students in creating their personal artistic practices and, through FftO, we take great pride in being able to program music performances that gloriously succeed in this direction! The audience will experience outstanding soloists and ensembles, playing very different, but specific styles, that tried to rethink performance practice and gave it their own flair.
This time the festival will also host ensemble VONK as the first ‘Fontys Focus Ensemble’.
The group fully consists of alumni that were precursors in the AMPA mission and vision and managed to gain their place in the contemporary music field. We will meet VONK during a mini symposium, in which they will discuss their creative trajectory, ideas and pitfalls but also reflect on profiling and management. They will also present parts of their ‘Songbook of rare feelings’. The symposium is dedicated to providing the necessary exchange of insights on management for new performers.
The festival will be concluded with drinks, snacks and a chance for us all to casually connect.

TRUMPETFESTIVAL
With this brand new mini-festival in Paradox, called #trumpetstuff, we draw some extra attention to the most heroic instrument in the jazz world: the trumpet. Festival curator and host Teus Nobel takes us through various formations along some of the many colors that the instrument can impart to jazz. From a solo set with electronic effects (Koen Smits) to a sextet around Teus Nobel himself; with the trumpet as the centerpiece you get a lot of trumpet stuff around your ears!
Fontys AMPA Euphonium Competition | April 23
The first edition of the Fontys AMPA Euphonium Competition with Euphonium players from all over Europe. The first round starts at 9:30 and the finale will take placeat 15:00. We hope to see you there!
